Now I fully support mandatory spay & neuter for non-breeders, but NOT this kind of prejudicial breed-specific mandatory spay & neuter for pit-bulls only. A law like this should apply to all non-breeding dog owners, and breeders should be more closley regulated (and taxed) as well, according to their production.
Here is the article that appeared in a Kansas Newsblurb recently;
No reason to give up your pit bull
Pit bulls and mixes of pit bulls will have to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped starting July 1. If you cannot afford to have this done please contact Spay-neuter Kansas at 263-4200. They will do this surgery for $40 ($50 for females 50lbs or greater). If you cannot afford this ask them about Grant money to help you pay for this surgery. There is no need for you to give up your pet because you can't afford to have them spayed or neutered.
